The Mummers Museum opened in 1976, and is dedicated to the Philadelphia celebration of the new year. The museum houses a rich collection of mummers' paraphernalia and memorabilia, including spectacular costumes, a few of which date back to the turn of the 20th Century. It includes an on-site gift shop offering unique mummers products, an online store accessible from this website, and a luxurious banquet hall which is available for rental.The museum conducts interesting programs for both children and adults, and offers complimentary outdoor string band concerts during periods of mild weather.   • Rate This Museums: (5 Star Rater)
  • Who Are The Mummers: Lecture on the origins of mummery, with a guided tour. Approximately 1 to 1.5 hours including a thirty minute video. Time can be tailored to fit your schedule. Group rate - $2.00 per person based on a group of 20. 20 plus, driver and 1 comp per 40.
  • Childerns Classes: Children's art classes may include pre and post visits. Geared for school children ages 5 to 14. Art class consists of guided tour, lecture, materials for mask-making. Focus on use of color, shapes and materials representative of mummer folk art. Cost, $25.00 class fee plus $5.00 per person.

  • Outreach Programs: Going up Broad Street. Workshop on design. Centers on the complexity of mummer costume making. Incorporates lecture and video. The lecture also includes the art history of the speaker, and shows examples of the artist's works. Lectures are adjusted to the age level of the audience, as the program is presented before both children and adults.

  • Birthday Parties: Saturday only. Minimum 10, maximum 50 children. Program lasts two hours, and includes birthday cake, sode and pizza. $75 fee + $5 per person charge..

  • For more information and pricing on guided tours, educational programs, guest speakers and rental space to seat up to 220 people, call the museum during regular business hours. The banquet hall can accommodate 220 people comfortably at six foot round tables which seat 10 people each. All programs require advanced reservations.
