Come tour 26,000 feet of brewing awesomeness. Yards Brewing Company offers Free Brewery Tours every Saturday and Sunday between noon and 4 PM. The last tour generally starts between 3 and 3:30 PM.

All tours begin in the Tasting Room. Once we get a group large enough, we’ll head on into the “Brewery.” You’ll see the mash tun, the lauter tun, the brew kettles, and the towering fermentation tanks where wort becomes beer. Then we’ll pass by the brite tanks on our way to the bottling and packaging area. It’ll be insightful. It’ll be informative. And most important, it’ll be fun. There may even be refreshments.

Reservations aren’t required for Brewery Tours, however if you’re coming in groups of 12 or more, please give us advanced notice. Don’t forget, we offer Private Tours and Tastings for a fee. Contact Us.

Here are a few more facts about our mean, lean, brewing machine.

Green Cred

  • Greater Philadelphia’s Chamber of Commerce Green Business of the Year Award — 2010
  • Penn Future’s Green Power Turn it On! Award — 2009
  • We purchase all of our power OFF the grid.
  • We salvaged materials from the skate park that was here before we built the brewery. (Check out the tags on the I-beams.)
  • Our Tasting Room’s bar top is made from reclaimed bowling alley lanes and there’s salvaged mahogany trim on the bar and walls.
  • Our floors are made from recycled concrete and coated in SoyCrete sustainable compound.
  • Block walls covered in earthen American clay.
  • Century-old pool table was manufactured a few blocks away, at 222 S. 8th Street.
  • Yards cases are printed using 65% post-consumer recycled cardboard at a local Sustainable Forestry Initiative-certified manufacturer.
  • All fixtures, furniture and equipment are reclaimed.
  • Reusable growlers for draft-beer takeouts reduce packaging and waste. (OK, it’s not just sustainable, it’s a great way to take home a few pints of draft ale.)
  • After the brewing process is complete, we send our spent grain to local farms. Of course, farmers have been feeding pigs with Philadelphia’s garbage for centuries. But in our case, Gary Schuler, who raises buffalo at his Hillside Farms in Telford is pleased with the results. It comes full circle as we use Gary’s bison in our Tasting Room to make chili and a bison sausage sandwich.
